What you choose or chose to eat in your 20s could have a long-lasting impact on your heart’s health, according to a new study released Monday.
The study, published by the Minneapolis Heart Institute, followed the diets of a group of individuals for 20 years. The study’s subjects were in their 20s when the study began, in 1985.
Researchers discovered that those who ate seven or more servings of fruits and vegetables every day were 25 percent less likely to have calcium build-ups in their arteries, compared with those who had between two and four servings every day.
According to researchers, calcium buildups can lead to heart attacks later in life.
