HDPTC Mozambique Community Outreach  at Mateus Sansao Muthemba

HDPTC Mozambique, through the Mateus Sansão Muthemba kiosk, undertook a community outreach initiative in the Mateus Sansão Muthemba area from 3 to 5 February 2026.

The outreach activities were supported by HDPTC monitoring staff, Mrs. Ines Agostinho Germano, who served as the health education facilitator. She educated community members on the importance of regular blood pressure screening and emphasized that preventive measures are cheaper, easier, and more effective than treating hypertension.

The HDPTC kiosk manager, Mrs. Valen Chiparamadu, provided counseling and guidance to individuals whose blood pressure readings were found to be high, offering advice on follow-up and lifestyle adjustments.

Community members expressed appreciation for HDPTC’s initiative of bringing services closer to their localities and homes. As a result, awareness of hypertension and its risks is increasing within the community.

However, a key concern remains: hypertension clinics at government health centers in Mozambique are not operational every day, typically opening only one to two days per week, which limits access to continuous care.

HDPTC Mozambique looks forward to strengthening its presence within communities and enhancing collaboration with the government and public health centers, so that the HDPTC initiative becomes more widely known and achieves greater and more sustainable impact.
