On 8 March 2026, HDPTC Mozambique, in partnership with HDPTC Global and Bons Samaritano, organized a community outreach program in Nhatupisa, Mozambique. The initiative focused on preventive health education, particularly hypertension and heart disease, while also addressing HIV/AIDS awareness, food insecurity, and spiritual support.
The health component, led by Mrs. Valen, emphasized lifestyle changes and regular screenings to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. HIV/AIDS education was conducted by Mr. Abel Mostiço and Pastor Paulo Zebulon, who distributed condoms to community members aged 15–50. Pastor Zebulon also provided Christian pamphlets and encouraged faith engagement, though residents noted the absence of local churches. Vulnerable groups, including children and the elderly, received meals as part of the humanitarian support.
Despite the positive impact, the outreach highlighted severe challenges faced by Nhatupisa residents. The community lacks essential infrastructure: no health center, schools, or clean water supply. Access to medical care requires traveling over 250 kilometers, leaving residents feeling neglected by the government.
The community expressed deep gratitude for the intervention, stressing the importance of continued outreach. Key recommendations include establishing regular mobile health services, building local health and educational facilities, drilling boreholes for clean water, sustaining HIV/AIDS prevention programs, and supporting faith-based and community structures to strengthen social cohesion.
In conclusion, the outreach demonstrated the urgent need for integrated health and humanitarian programs in Nhatupisa. The partnership between HDPTC Global, HDPTC Mozambique, and Bons Samaritano proved vital in delivering life-saving education, care, and support. Sustained commitment and expansion of these efforts will be crucial to improving health outcomes, reducing vulnerability, and fostering resilience among the community.
